Dharmic Vs Monotheistic religion : A logical comparison # 11

Dharmic Vs Monotheistic religion : A logical comparison # 11

11) Reaching the unwilling Vs Un-conditioning the willing

Mono-theistic religions try to "reach the unreached" without considering if one is willing or unwilling. It used to be done forcibly before and now it is done by offending and associating other beliefs and practices with evil.

Dharmic religions on the other hand do not try to reach unwilling people. They try to un-condition the conditioned minds of willing individuals to see the reality. Buddhism can do a great job at this because it states the problem statement first, works towards eliminating the problem and can be practiced with least amount of paraphernalia.

Nirseek, I havent read all your logical comparison posts, here is a school of thought. Human mind needs some explanation behind why things happen, especially when bad things happenn to good people. Since you and I know that there are unexplainable things that happen in everyones lives. Religion is just a way to explain the unexplainable things. This is like the health care debate in America, you have many private companies giving health care and people have freedom of choice you could also have a government run health care system and make it mandatory for folks to pick that. Bottom line is they all provide health care. Some may perceive one is better than the other, unless we sign up under each of the options how can we even truly judge if something is good for us? similarly every religion has a way to make people feel better about themselves. Another point is there is no language where what is being said by the so called GODs Jesus, Krishna, Mohammad is exactly being interpreted the same by the readers of scriptures. Things will be and are always lost in translation. Another school of thought religion is like language, if everyone speaks the same language there may be less confusion misunderstandings and chaos (example America vs India) may be that could be what is driving Monotheistic religions to try to convert others into theirs what are your thoughts?

Anonymous,
I have the same views as what you say in your post, except for the same language one. Firstly only the willing should be approached. Secondly if we compare religions to health care options, one should only speak of their advantages but should not demonize others. Also even if everyone on this planet convert to the same religion, there will be many other factors to create chaos and misunderstanding like race, language, food habits and many more. For example, in America races are still segregated in places of worship! (though they follow the same religion.)
